Samurai

A$35.00

The samurai was known as the indomitable warrior, a warrior that followed the Bushido code (Way of the Warrior). This code held bravery, honour, and personal loyalty above life itself.

In the mid-19th century, the precepts of Bushidō were made the basis of ethical training for all of society with the emperor replacing the feudal lord, or daimyo, as the focus of loyalty and sacrifice.

In the 14th century, during the Japan's Muromachi Era and under the growing influence of Zen Buddhism, incense reached the height of its popularity.

Made with rare and expensive wood, the upper and middle classes used incense as a symbol of distinction and sophistication, as well as for fragrance. It at this time that the samurai warrior began burning incense in his helmet before heading into battle. The samurai believed that, if his head was decapitated, the incense would make his head smell sweat.

The Samurai Candle pays respect to this practice combining a blend of rare Japanese woods, including agarwood the oldest and most traditional form of incense used by the Japanese, to create a scent that will truly transcend your expectations.

No matter your fate, this will leave sweet smells in your head,

Dark. Moody. Moving. Soothing.
